The mission of The Tuscarora Conference and Training Institute is to provide tools to manage the unimaginable. Our vision is to provide a retreat that will allow you to heal. The Armistice retreat will operate as the primary therapeutic offering for the Institute. This facility will offer treatment to those men and women, first responders and military, who are reaching out for assistance with the management of co-occurring psychological manifestations associated with Critical Incident Psychological Trauma.
We are different from other organizations in that we recognize that every facet of public safety has the requirement for a unique personality trait. We at TCTI understand that, and our programs will be the basis for healing for the men and women who unknowingly sacrifice their mental health for those in need.
Our goal is to see through the facade, listen to understand, and support your feelings as valid. To recognize the inherent personality differences between a Fire Fighter, Police Officer, a Medical Examiner, a Paramedic, Corrections Officer, or Funeral Director. But also to see the traits that these individuals have in common.
Our approach is not generic as we will focus on the individual, not on the collective. This is the time to take care of these individuals and provide the resources necessary to meet their goal of heeling. A visit to the Armistice will begin with one phone call.
The Mountain Location of our lodge is important in that it is remote. This will provide you with the peaceful environment to allow you to relax and prepare your minds for the beginning of the healing process. We are remote yet close enough to metropolitan area to allow easy access to our facility. The solitude of our facility lends to vast sky, lit only by the moon and the stars. The lack of city noise is refreshing and will allow your mind to wander to somewhere other than to the trauma you are here to overcome.
The Armistice will be located on 385 acres of pasture and mountainous trails. Our property offers an endless number of opportunities for outdoor activities from fishing to archery to fitness on hiking trails and obstacle courses. There is also room to take advantage of outdoor activities with horses and canine assistance companions. We focus on the resources that are inherent to the land.
Applications to participate in the numerous programs will be taken 24/7/365. We will review your application and within 48 hours contact you by telephone. Submitting your application allows us to better understand where you are and how we can tailor the focus of your time with us.
